Topic #6 - Splinter Cell Empty
PostSubject: Topic #6 - Splinter Cell   Topic #6 - Splinter Cell EmptyFri Nov 05, 2010 2:15 pm

Now, I haven't done one of these in a while because I had some stuff I was caught up in and because I wanted more topics to stack up in case I go into Mike's boredom posting mode. Free of charge.

Anyways, the original request was for a comparison of Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, but alas, I only own MGS4 and rarely played the others. As for Splinter Cell I played just a little bit more, but not enough to go truly in detail.

I will say that they may go under the same type of category, but I always felt as if MGS was on a whole other level in gaming. Splinter Cell was a nice spin on espionage gaming and definitely had it's time as a must buy. As of late, I felt like it's gimmick has died down and was only somewhat brought back with the addition of co-op gameplay. I still felt it wasn't the same as it once was and doesn't stand out anymore either. They should definitely give a real good in-depth reboot on the series and start fresh. With this generation of consoles, the series can definitely make a mark again as it once did in the past.

Now, I can't really break it down being that I didn't have all the games or played them all to the full extent. To me it was Splinter Cell is cool, meh, not cool, and then okay I guess. Hasn't really done much to stand out anymore and hasn't had much of a compelling story either. Once they get some good story into it and improve the game overall, I'd give it another chance.

As for MGS, I'm just going to say it is definitely a better game over SC, but over time, MGS became more of a overall great game rather than being one dimensional as SC was at time. Just my opinion.

I apologize for not going into more detail, but perhaps, if the situations calls for it, I'll come back to this topic. Someday.

How about the stupid ass difficulty?

I too only owned one game but holy crap does it have to be so effing hard from mission 1?

It's the only game I've ever played that I honestly wished there was some long boring tutorial so I could stop getting my ass kicked.
