I think Sony shoulda done something more epic, like blamed the outage on a bug infestation at Sony HQ and then refused to turn it back on until a new Ghostbusters movie was made.
On a serious note, Sony is taking this in stride, and rebuilding the network to prevent further attacks. I feel there's a possibility that somebody like Microsoft would have tried to fix it and kept it running, and valuable information could have been stolen (credit card info, SSN's, ect.).

Sorry to let you know millions of credit card information has been stolen. Sony suck, crappy community support and software features, they only have good hardware which hardly goes to use anyway....

If your credit card was stolen, they'd be caught and sent to jail. If you think PSPlus is not enough community love, plus a still free online service, plus possible refunds for subscriptions in DCU, Free Realms, and PSPlus that people pay for, then I don't know how much more you need.
PSPlus is Sony giving you free *censored*, Xbox doesn't even give you a working console until 2 years later.
"PS3 supporters" showed their true colors today, when half said they'd go to Xbox. Enjoy the whopping 3 exclusive games, I'm sorry, Halo is done...if Gears is a trilogy, then that's done, too. Well, then a whopping 1 exclusive, then be my guest. I'll stick to what PS3 is, better exclusives, actual community support, free online, and now with less hypocrites. There was a point I'd want to own both, but what exactly does Xbox have to offer? If I switched, I'd be paying more just to go online, then I do paying for PSPlus and DCU combined.
I still am a Sony fan, even with this, because I know what's best for myself. I'm not going to tell you that you better stay with PS3, that they are the best. It's all opinion, as I stated most of mine, behind the facts, and years from now when the consoles continue to improve, Xbox will have nothing left, except a bunch of people kissing Microsoft ass even though they probably just bought their 5th console from there.

Why does everybody pretend like it's sony's fault they were hacked?
Same thing could happen to xbox, nuff said.
