What's your definition of a best friend?

The one that will see the real you and still accept you. A best friend is a person that you can go to with just about anything and they will try to come up with something to say. They will try to make you feel better without you asking, and you'll have some of your best times with them. Best friends can do each other favors without owing anything back, best friends know your deepest darkest secrets, and will drop almost anything if you really need help. They don't judge you off of one mistake, they don't expect you to be any different than you and they won't make you change to fit in with any group. 
THAT, is my definition of a best friend.

someone who sticks up for you and cares for you no matter what and someone who can make you smile when your upset

I really liked your description, especially that last sentence. I don't think I could have said it any better

I think one thing that is amazing about best friends is that they are the ones who make you smile when you truly need it, not when you ask for it. When nobody else is around and you've determined nobody is going to help you, that's where they come in and surprise you with a thoughtful gesture you weren't expecting.

A friend is nice a polite, a best friend is rude.

A friend respects you, a best friend treats you like pie.

Think about it, when you first meet someone, you guys are nice and polite towards each other. As your friendship grows, however, all that good stuff disappears.
